Arami To Go


I have been a big fan of Arami since its opening in the summer of 2010. I stuck with them when their chef, B.K. Park, left this past summer, and I eagerly anticipated the opening of their sister concept, Arami Go!, this past November.

While Arami Go! offers a la carte options like housemade kimchi and inari sushi, the ‘bento counter’ is where it’s at. At $10 a pop, you can customize your bento box and have a perfectly satisfying lunch or dinner. I chose brown rice, spicy tuna tartare, brussel sprouts (I watched them lower the sprouts into a vat of frying oil, so their deliciousness came at no surprise) and salted edamame.

The dish arrives complete with a paper bag full of house-made roasted nori (seaweed). Suddenly, it all came together. I carried my bento home, and did as I was instructed – made my own spicy tuna roll by combining the nori, rice and tuna tartare. The Nori was extra fresh and crisp since it only touched the rice for a few seconds before touching the inside of my belly.

Arami Go! offers delivery for lunch and dinner. With a recent nomination by Time Out Chicago for best new sushi spot, I would say they are following in their sister’s successful footsteps. Tell us who your favorite is (we won’t tell)….
