A friend of mine recently turned me onto the powers of Blue Print Cleanse juices at Whole Foods. I’ve since become quite the fan, with my favorite fix coming from the deep red beet juice concoction. However, at $10 per juice, and as the owner of a great blender at home, I figured I could support my juice habit in a more cost effective manner by creating my own mixes.
The recipe below is my go-to. It’s simple and you can put your own twist on it by adding new ingredients such as celery or mint, or adjusting the amount of ginger and lemon to appease your palate. Give it a try and let me know what you come up with!
BEET JUICE TWIST
1 ½ cups beet juice (My favorite is the freshly squeezed beet juice from Mariano’s).
1 Apple (preferably Honeycrisp)
1 tsp fresh ginger
- Wash your fruit.
- Peel the carrot, ginger and lemon.
- Chop the apple and carrot into small pieces.
- Add all the ingredients to the blender and mix until smooth.
Note: You can substitute fresh whole beets for beet juice; just add water, and then strain the mixture at the end for a smoother taste.
