Simes Studio Celebrates its 23rd Year

Celebrating its 23rd year in Chicago, Simes Studios carries on the traditional art of fine decorative panting. In the manner of the famous Renaissance workshops of the 15th Century, Simes Studios is a synthesis of the individual artistic talents and specialties of a group of fine artists. The studio artists begin as apprentices and work to become senior artists skilled in the diverse aspects of fine decorating painting.

Unified under the direction of Jorge and Cindy Simes, the studio had its beginnings where the couple met in Buenos Aires, Argentina. There they studied many of the old decorative painting techniques and produced a number of commissions. In 1988 they moved to Chicago and began Simes Studios. Since that time the studio has blossomed into a growing business consisting of nine artists and support staff.

The studio's work can be seen nationally and throughout the Chicago area at such establishments as Cafe Spiaggia, DeGuilio showrooms, St. Ignatius College Prep and the Bentley Gold Coast showroom. The work is usually commissioned through architects and interior designers. The majority of the projects are in private residences with some commercial work in restaurants, lobbies, schools and retail spaces. The studio claims an impressive list of clients and an accomplished portfolio.

The studio offers an extensive range of techniques, such as trompe l' oeil, glazed or textured finishes, Venetian stucco, custom stenciling, metal leafing, faux marble and bois, painted floors and furniture and mural painting. They specialize in Old World quality while incorporating contemporary and environmentally friendly materials.
