The Best Chicago Fall Fashion Events

We may not be ready to face the end of summer in Chicago (is it just me, or does it go by more quickly every year?), but ladies, we should all be welcoming fall with open arms. It is the best fashion season, after all. While I do agree it is annoying to see tweeds and sweaters creep onto department store floors moments after July 4th, I think this month's fabulous fashion events will have you bidding a fond farewell to summer faster than you can say "red is the new black." (Which is true, might I add.)

Both Fashion's Night Out, now in its third year, and In-Fashion: The Magnificent Mile Shopping Festival, in its debut year, are offering a stylish slew of events. Here are my can't-miss picks:

In-Fashion's Impressionism, Fashion and Modernity
September 1, noon - 1:00pm
The Shops at North Bridge
An exclusive sneak peek at the future Art Institute of Chicago blockbuster exhibition, Fashion, Impressionism, and Modernity. This event, featuring fashion and culture icon Nena Ivon and Art Institute curator Gloria Groom, will showcase fall fashions that marry contemporary styles with the most sartorially noteworthy artworks by the Impressionist painters. In-Fashion's Fall Fashion Fix: Real Women, Real Chicago
September 1, 6:00 - 9:00 pm
The Drake Hotel
The Drake, 900 North Michigan Shops and Mario Tricoci present a runway show featuring 40 influential Chicago women, hosted by Quentin Schumacher. Tickets, $25 - $50, available here.

In-Fashion's Chocolate + Fashion Tour: Sweet Meets Chic!
September 2, 5:30 pm
Chicago Chocolate Tours hosts a guided walking, tasting, and shopping tour to chocolate shops and fashion boutiques, concluding with a sweet reception at Adele Dallas Orr boutique. Tickets, $50 (include chocolate, gift bag and Champagne reception) and are available here.
