Video: PAWS Chicago Beach Party 2010
Every dog has his day--but some lucky Chicago dogs got a glamorous night.
At the 8th annual PAWS Chicago Beach Party on July 22, over 500 guests and more than 100 beachwear-clad pups raised over $225,000 to support PAWS, Chicago's largest no-kill animal shelter.
Both people and pooches lounged beachside at Castaways on North Avenue beach, sipping tropical cocktails and sampling a summery dinner buffet while bidding in silent and live auctions. The event was emceed by radio host Lisa Dent of US99.5, and live music was provided by Chicago-based rockers The Underwater People.
Governor Pat Quinn attended the fundraiser and signed two animal rights bills into law, designed to prevent antifreeze poisoning in pets and children, as well as prohibit the private ownership of monkeys as pets.
