Borris Powell’s House of Fashion

Fashion designer Borris Powell is still going strong since starting his eponymous clothing line in Chicago five years ago. In the midst of producing a stellar fashion show, planned for Friday, March 14 at Block 37 (108 N. State St.), Mr. Powell gave me all the details on his Fall/Winter 2014 Collection. Sitting in his new office space, Mr. Powell shares, “My initial inspiration for the collection came from a trip that I took to Dallas. I designed the collection around Texas elements including cowboy boots, making it my very first all-American inspired collection.”

New to Mr. Powell’s collection are genuine leather, custom-made wallets, a must-have for men, available in an array of colors. Also on the radar is an addition to the Borris Powell bag line, an elegant and traditional handbag for women. There is more, much more to be introduced…like the Borris Powell ‘Garden Red’ lipstick, containing conditioning shea butter. And last but not least, there are several extraordinary pieces designed to dress up an evening outfit including ballroom skirts, swing jackets, and chiffon capes as well as chiffon ponchos. The fabulous colors used throughout the Fall/Winter 2014 Collection include Rich Blue, Bordeaux, Char Grey, and a Marble Brown.
