Buying Wine Online at Naked Wines

Naked Wines sample tasting

Joining an online wine club can be a challenge. Often, the labels look unfamiliar and you’re not sure what you’re getting. Enter Naked Wines, a wine club that’s funded by your membership. I happened upon Naked Wines when I was strolling around downtown Napa (where there’s a gazillion amazing tasting rooms) with my friend Larry.

What a fun evening we had! You can taste through white or reds but, most importantly, you learn how the company is run. Each wine is made by a reputable wine maker that has opted to make a bottle under a proprietary label for Naked Wines. It’s a customer-funded wine business where you pledge a per-month fee of $40, which gets stored in your account like a piggy bank to be used when you see or taste a Naked wine that you’re interested in buying. Meanwhile, customer funds are invested in independent winemakers who are passionate about making a wine on their own terms but don’t have the capital to do so.

What a fun club to join! I very much look forward to tasting these wines over time. And if you don’t like what you’re tasting for any reason, you can cancel your ‘angel’ membership and get a full refund.
