Brunch on Sunday mornings – so many choices, so little time. The options are plenty, ranging from casual to fanciful and located all over Chicago. The food is diverse and delectable. After sampling cuisine at over two dozen eateries, here are my top five suggestions – all unique in their own way – just in time for Easter Brunch!
1. Wishbone: opened in 1992, located in the West Loop. Southern Soul Food at its best. In warmer weather, seating on the patio is a delightful option. Best dish: North Carolina Style Crab Cakes with a side of grits, oh my! Casual attire. Brunch is served Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 3pm. Children’s menu available. Expect a long wait on Sundays, yes, the food is that good.

2. Tweet…Let’s Eat: opened in 2003, located in Uptown. Offering a spectacular menu filled with numerous delectable dishes, and on top of that there is a gluten-free menu that tops them all including a Vegan’s Delight Breakfast Burrito filled with healthy goodness (flour tortilla stuffed with organic beans, organic brown rice, avocado, pico de gallo, organic tofu scrambled in olive oil). In need of comfort food, try the gluten-free pumpkin pancakes, to die for, literally. Casual attire. Brunch is served on Saturday and Sunday from 8:30am to 3pm.

3. Devon Seafood Grill: opened in 2006, located in the Gold Coast. Offering fresh premium seafood. Best dish: Lobster Mac n’ Cheese. The buffet includes succulent seafood such as, Alaskan King Crab legs, Oysters on the half shell, and Char-crusted ahi tuna, to name a few. Business casual attire. Brunch is served on Sunday from 10am to 3pm (extended to 6pm on Easter Sunday), and costs $45 per adult, $16 per child, ages 4 to 12.

4. The Lobby at The Peninsula: opened in 2001, located in the Gold Coast. Brunch in The Lobby is the creme de la creme of brunches. The Easter Sunday buffet includes a breakfast bar with an omelet station, eggs benedict with truffle hollandaise, a seafood and oyster bar, slow-cooked duck and smoked pork rack carving station, sushi and sashimi station hand-rolled to order, and a dessert station. The little tikes will munch on chicken fingers, grilled cheese, along with macaroni and cheese. Sunday best attire. Easter Brunch will be served from 10:30am to 6:30pm, and costs $155 per adult and $50 per child, 12 years and younger.
5. Yolk: opened its first location on South Michigan Ave. in 2006, in the south loop. These Greeks know what they are doing with breakfast, expanding to five city locations since their grand opening and offering six different eggs benedict. Best dish: Pot Roast Benedict. Children’s menu available. Serving breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays from 7am to 3pm.
