Door County Coffee & Tea Co.

Close up on the beans – deep, dark, rich and plump.

There’s no better way to start your journey up the Door Peninsula than by stopping into Door County Coffee & Tea Co. in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, at the southern most tip of the county.

Door County Coffee & Tea Co. was founded in 1984 by Vicki & Doug Wilson, who were big fine coffee fans. Vicki and a small staff of devoted employees and her son still run the family owned shop, roasted in this 20,000-square-foot building that also features the cute, casual cafe displayed below. The coffee is exceptional, and you’ll love the homemade bakery, breakfast, lunch, espresso bar, drive thru and gift shop.

They’ve created quite an extensive e-commerce and have an informative newsletter for you coffee fans. Vicki took us through the entire process, sourcing beans, then roasting, flavoring and packing them for shipment. Quite an education, not to mention a delicious first stop on my visit to Door County. Stay tuned for more stops up the peninsula in the weeks to come in Wisconsin’s unique #DoorCounty.
