The Friends of the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Pediatric Hospital held their 4th annual Holiday Friendship Tea on Wednesday, December 5, at the exclusive Racquet Club located in the Gold Coast neighborhood. Founding Member Julie Karagianis, along with President/Founding Member Helen Applegate, hosted 118 ladies at this sold out event.
Guests enjoyed high tea sandwiches and scones while listening to Christmas music played by a pianist and shopping with several vendors featuring holiday gifts. Vendors included Mary Mary Gifts,Elsa Johnson Jewelry, and board member Liz Webb. The event raised over $9,000 to benefit the UIC Pediatric Hospital to fund medical equipment.
“Friends of UIC Pediatrics” was founded by a group of philanthropic volunteers that have chosen as their mission, fund-raising and support of the Department of Pediatrics at UIC. The Department consists of dedicated and highly qualified faculty and staff who care for children from all socio-economic backgrounds, including a large number of underprivileged children. This group is committed to philanthropy to assist the department to provide outstanding care to all children who come to UIC. Patients receive compassionate and the highest quality medical care from nationally and internationally known doctors.
