Lurie Children’s Pop-up Designer Closet

The ladies of Lurie’s Foundation Board snag designer threads…all for a good cause.

The Founders’ Board of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago hosted a preview of its Designer Closet pop-up shop on Thursday, September 19, at the 900 North Michigan Shops. Co-chairs Katie Donovan and Brette Bensinger welcomed friends and family with Champagne, wine and hors d’oeuvres while they shopped.

Secondhand pieces by coveted designers Chanel, Prada, YSL, and Manolo Blahnik, to name a few, were in abundance, much to the delight of the ladies. There was also a silent auction consisting of items generously donated by Leslie Hindman Auctioneers, Kate Spade, Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren, LK Bennett, and Lafayette 148 from Bloomgindale’s. The shop was a tribute to the White Elephant Shop in Lincoln Park that closed its doors in June 2002.

Founders’ Board President Lauren Gorter thanked everyone for supporting the board and its fundraising efforts. Ms. Gorter shared, “The Founders’ Board has just announced a new three-year, $5.5 million commitment to recruitment and violence prevention; the Designer Closet’s proceeds will go towards both of those projects.”
