Shellie Thompson Talks Fashion

When it comes to fashion, Shellie Thompson is the stylist to know. She transforms one closet at a time with her new venture, Closet. Wardrobe. You. And having built up a client list from California to New York, she can really rock your closet. How does she do it? With élan, elegance and sophistication.

By visiting your home and perusing your closet, Ms. Thompson will give you the chic look you have always dreamed about. A consultation with her includes:

  • an assessment of your needs (clothes for work and play)
  • fittings with a mannequin (so you can see how the clothes look on someone else!)
  • a style session with looks created from your own closet
  • a lookbook created by photographing style sessions and wardrobe fittings
  • a 90-day ‘No Shopping Pact’ (simply wear the looks created by Ms. Thompson and only shop from her list)

It’s that simple! And if you need help packing for a business or personal trip, Ms. Thompson is just a phone call away. Here, she shares her ‘must-haves’ for the fall season along with fashion tips:

1. Tailored Blazer “One that can be worn dressed up or down (with track pants and sneakers or jeans). It may be a jacket you already own. Take inventory!”

2. Sneakers “Love this look with jeans, skirts and even a dress. Nike and New Balance have some of the best that I’ve seen. The Comme des Garçons low top is what I’ll be wearing this fall, especially with my pant suits and dresses and skirts.”

3. Crisp White Shirt “Classic. I love the cropped sweater over the long tail shirt. (Some women can wear a men’s shirt for the same look). It’s great with jeans and skirts.”

4. Leather Tote Bag “Color please! Navy, red or saddle. Tie a scarf on the handle to switch gears in the middle of the day. Enhance your outfit and tie the scarf around your neck to complete your look!”

5. Coats “I love coats…textured, brightly colored, unstructured and tied with a single overhand knot like a bathrobe. The Duster has made a comeback.”

6. Sparkle “It works day or night. Whether it’s on a tank, tee or shoe/boot or around your neck…it just works.”

7. Flat Footwear “An Oxford or a loafer. Lattice or scallop. Calf hair or print. Patent or metallic. Suede or leather. Put away the stilettos; the kitten heel is back! Your feet will thank you.”
