No longer starring in the teen drama One Tree Hill, Sophia Bush has moved up the ranks to detective on NBC’s Chicago PD. Currently filming in Chicago, Ms. Bush spent the morning of Saturday, February 8, volunteering with Sue Naiden, founder of Trio Animal Foundation (TAF), at Unleashed, a dog boarding facility located in Lincoln Park (1565 North Dayton Street).
Partnering with Barefoot Wine & Bubbly, a California winery, Ms. Bush and Ms. Naiden welcomed volunteers to raise awareness of TAF and its commitment to provide shelter and medical attention to homeless pets. Barefoot Wine’s Soles of the Year Program, an initiative that recognizes devoted volunteers in the community, honored Ms. Naiden for her tireless years of assisting homeless pets.
Asked how she became involved with TAF and Barefoot Wine, Ms. Bush explains, “I learned of Barefoot Wine’s outreach programs while filming One Tree Hill in Wilmington, North Carolina. We have remained connected over the years. When Barefoot called to invite me to the Soles of the Year Program, I said yes. It was an easy decision, I love dogs. I have three dogs at home that were adopted from shelters.”
Born and raised in California, Ms. Bush is experiencing her first winter in Chicago. How is she handling it? “I purchased warm weather gear from head to toe to attempt to stay warm here in Chicago, including several coats. A regular day of shooting consists of 16 hour days, so I had to do my shopping online.”
