Sun Kissed Sans Sun

One way to spring into spring is finding a natural-looking bronzer that best complements your complexion. “Changing your foundation with the season will keep you in your perfect bronzer match – one that flatters your natural skin undertone,” explains Estée Lauder Makeup Artist Tammy Slider.

To find the perfect shade MAC Senior Makeup Artist Louise Zizzo recommends looking for a color one shade deeper than your natural skin tone. “This gives you a soft and subtle, sun-kissed glow,” she says.

A bronzing powder should warm the skin and provide definition and a consistent subtle color. NARS Makeup Stylist Jake Broullard recommends sampling shades first. “Swipe the bronzer against the light part of your forearm,” he advises. “Once blended out, the color should look close to the tan area of your forearm.”

Bronzers come in liquid or powder form, and Ms. Slider says each has an appropriate time and place for usage. “Apply Bronze Goddess Luminous Liquid Bronzer for a natural daytime glow. Dress it up for the evening by layering it with Bronze Goddess Powder for the ultimate bronze goddess look,” she suggests.

Oily skin types won’t like the way a liquid bronzer wears throughout the day. “It may end up looking greasy instead of dewy,” says Ms. Zizzo, who also advises exfoliating the skin prior to bronzing. “This ensures a smooth application, avoiding a patchy finish.”
