Raising the bar on Mexican Cuisine.
Foodies held their collective breath when David Dworshak, former executive chef of Carnivale, announced his departure from the lively West Loop eatery to focus on a new venture in Wicker Park, Takito Kitchen, which opened in March. Chef Dworshak and Beverage Director Adam Weber have aimed to elevate the state of Mexican-inspired dining in Chicago.
“We’re trying to raise the bar of what a taqueria is,” explains Chef Dworshak. “We’re doing contemporary interpretations of Mexican food and taco culture combined with a craft cocktail program.” From margaritas served in clay pots to tacos on purple hibiscus tortillas, Takito doesn’t shy away from the unexpected culinary juxtaposition. The consensus? Two jalapeños up.
