The Music Box Theatre’s Holiday Sing Alongs

Light up your holiday season, and start a new tradition with your friends and family, with sing alongs at the Music Box Theatre (3733 North Southport Avenue). No rehearsal necessary…

Aside from stuffing the turkey, do something unique over Thanksgiving weekend, attend the unforgettable Sound of Music sing along. The 1962 musical will be presented in Technicolor and full-screen Cinemascope on Friday, November 29 at 4 and 8:30pm.; Saturday, November 30 at 11:30am, 4pm and 8:30pm and Sunday, December 1 at 11:30am and 4pm. With the lyrics projected on the screen during the movie, you can sing favorites “Do-Re-Me,” “Edelweiss” and “My Favorite Things” out loud to your heart’s content. Don’t forget to wear your special costume to participate in the best dressed contest. Tickets are $12.50 for adults, $8 for children 12 and under.

Celebrating the Music Box Theatre’s 30th annual Christmas Show, Santa Claus rides in to the Windy City on his sleigh, hosting attendees at the Music Box in a sing along of Christmas carols, accompanied by the theatre’s organist. If that isn’t enough holiday fluff, then stay for the showing of White Christmas starring Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye and Rosemary Clooney. And don’t miss It’s a Wonderful Life starring Jimmy Stewart. No need to be shy, guests ring bells every time an angel gets their wings, and guests “boo-hiss” every time Mr. Potter appears on screen. Tickets are $12 for adults, single feature; $17 double feature; $10 single or $15 double feature for children 13 and under.

Families that want to be part of the holiday fun can send a photo from past years at the Music Box Theatre with the names of those in the picture to and the theater will add them to the preshow slideshow on the big screen.
