A client of mine suggested that I read The Secret some time ago and I said, “Okay. I will.” Several months passed and I had not read the book or watched the movie. Over the last few months they kept asking me, “Did you read The Secret yet?” The truth was, I did not think it was worth reading. I heard about it on Oprah, blah, blah, blah, and just figured it was another self-help book. And, since I do energy work with my clients, I felt it would say the same thing I already knew. BOY, WAS I WRONG!
The same client that recommended the book was late for a session one day and I decided to download the movie. When they arrived I smiled and said, “I finally got the movie.” For the first time ever, I was impressed; later I downloaded the book and just love it! I recommended it to three people that week.
As I thought about why I was so impressed with this book I began to think about how I felt when I read it. Honestly, it was far from a “feel-good” or motivational book for me. I liked it because it took a complicated concept like energy and power and distilled it down to the lowest common denominator. It made it so easy that a 3rd grader could understand it. The only problem I see with the book is that it is so simple that the concept would be difficult to believe. The truth is – and always has been – is that life really IS that simple! The more you can wrap your brain around the concept of The Secret, the more control you will have over your life, personal and professional.
While the concept is simple, implementing it can be a challenge for some which is why they work with practitioners in this space. However, once you get the hang of it, it’s smooth sailing. So, I highly recommend you watch and read The Secret (in that order) – it’s a High Achiever must have!
