Travel + Leisure hosted a kick-off party for its Hot Spot Travel Tech Pop Up on Thursday, December 12, at the recently opened Thompson Chicago hotel (21 East Bellevue) located in the ritzy Gold Coast neighborhood. The kick-off fete was held on the third floor of the hotel offering hors d’oeuvres and cocktails straight out of the kitchen of Nico Osteria, the latest establishment of Executive Chef Paul Kahan, with entertainment by DJ Matt Roan who was spinning tunes.

Guests perused and tested over 30 products/gadgets chosen by Travel + Leisure’s editor. The items were set up in the lobby of the Thompson Chicago from December 12-15, giving out-of-town guests and Chicagoans the opportunity to stop in and check out these choice items. The travel essential highlights included the Samsung NX300 camera ($750), Audio-Technica ATH-ANC29  noise-cancelling headphones ($100) and even Swiss Army knives by Victorinox.
