Younger Looking Skin Isn’t a Myth

But know the facts!

Because I’m in the beauty, health and wellness field, I’m often asked by both friends and clients about the latest wrinkle-removing treatment that promises a ‘fountain of youth’ to the woman that gets it. The reality is that there are many products and treatments that promise younger-looking facial skin. But before you make decisions about which ones to try, keep these four anti-aging myths in mind:

Myth #1: To look youthful, you have to buy expensive bottles of skin serum or formulas. Even though the Tiffani Kim Institute Medical Wellness Spa sells first-rate dermatological products, the truth is that proper cleansing and moisturizing is essential to having youthful-looking skin. If your budget can’t afford brands sold in salons like mine, you still can have clean, moisturized skin. Some women think that spending on expensive peels and vitamins automatically translates into better-looking skin, but it’s not always true. As I said in a previous post, consistency is the most important factor in skin care.

Myth #2: Diet plays no role in helping you look young. Think you can eat badly and still have good skin? Think again. Foods that are rich in antioxidants –grapes and berries, red wine and rich, dark chocolate – not only help heal the body and boost your immune system, but they also have a positive effect on your skin’s cells. So the next time you think about choosing a greasy plate of French fries over a side of fresh veggies, you just might be adding visible years to your face.

Myth #3: Sleeping in makeup is no big deal. We know that falling asleep with a face full of makeup is a bad idea. Not only can this bad habit lead to more breakouts, blemishes and other skin problems, but it can speed up the aging process! Go the lazy route too often, and you may find your eyes staring back at crow’s feet in the mirror.

Myth #4: Medicines exist that can help stop the aging process. While I would love to tell you that there are doctors’ secrets or miracle drugs that will help you stay young, that’s not reality. No, not even medical information reviews or studies done by the world’s best aging clinics leads doctors to believe a pill can stop someone from aging. The best advice? Maintain a healthy, natural lifestyle and make good choices, whether about feeding your body or cleansing your skin.
